What We Believe
About the Scriptures
We believe that the very words of the original text of the Bible are inspired by God and are infallible and that it is the most Holy Word (Ps. 105:8). We believe that the original text is accurate and without error (II Tim. 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21). We believe that it is the source that equips man to do every good work (Eph. 2:10). We believe that the Bible is complete in its parts and cannot be added to or subtracted from (Heb. 1:1-2; Rev. 22:18-19). We believe the Word of God is eternal and will never pass away (Ps. 119:89; Matt. 24:35).
We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that they have all existed together as one from the beginning (Jn. 1:1-2). We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to humanity and to become the Savior of the lost world (Jn. 1:14). We believe that God is: infinite (Ps. 147:5, 145:3); He is eternal (Job 36:26, Rev. 22:13); He is omnipresent (Jer. 23:24); He is omnipotent (Job 42:1-2, Jer. 32:26-27); He is omniscient (Heb. 4:13). He is holy (Rev. 4:8, Is. 6:3); and He is loving (John 3:16).
We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. We believe man was created for God’s own glory (Isaiah 43:7). We believe that Adam, the first man, sinned and became separated from God only to pass this sin on to every man born of the human race. (Gen 3:6; Rom. 5:12). I believe that man has no hope in and of himself to save himself from the separation from God except through the sanctifying work of Jesus on the cross. (John 3:36; Rom 8:10).
We believe that God loved his creation so much that He provided a way of escape for man from the penalty of sin and ultimate doom that is upon him. It was through the shedding of blood that God required for salvation of man (Lev. 17:11; Heb 9:22). We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin (John 3:16; Eph. 2:4-6; Rom. 5:8).
About the Christian Life
We believe all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves (James 1:22; Eph. 2:10). By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ (Romans 12:2).
About the Church
We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head (I Cor. 12:27). The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving him and by making Him known to the lost world (John 13:35; Matt. 28:18-20).
